why do they make the elimination chamber sound scary?

They say it has bullet proof glass, steel structured & chains and othr dangerous stuff. The elimination chamber matches suck and they killed that match since WWE went PG. The best chamber match was the very first one in 2002. That is how a chamber match is suppose to be with alot of blood in the match. Now the wrestlers in chamber matches today barely use the chamber as a weapon or bleed.

Blood means nothing if there is no psychology to the match. Its like the difference between say Alfred Hitchcock and Eil Roth films. One clearly has a deep meaning and is art the other is just exaggerated gore…..sorry but hardcore backyard wrestling is dead for good reason.

My daughter is shopping around for high schools?

My daughter is trying to pick between two high schools. Let’s call them A and B. A is closer to our home, but it has 10 percent lower test scores than B. B is newer than A, has higher test scores, but it is less convenient for her to go. Should she pick A or B? She’s concerned about the test scores of A because she believes that it would mean that she wouldn’t be as challenged in academics and also be dumber than if she went to B. Do test scores really depend on the academics? Would she be smarter if she went to B?

I’m going to high school next year. In my opinion, if she went to either, how she does is more on her part than the schools or their test scores. She wouldn’t be "dumber" just because she goes to school A. If they have honors/AP classes at school A or B and she’s looking to be challenged, she should try and see how she likes the classes. From what you’re saying, she seems like she is more worried about what the rest of the school’s scores are than her own. If she goes to either, she would focus on how she does and try to stand out from the rest. How smart she is doesn’t have to do with what school she goes to and test scores don’t really depend on the academics, but how the students them selves apply themselves to the academics. This comes from personal experience and how a lot of the other teenagers I know act vs. their scores.

I have a Giant Crypress bicycle. Can I install a Truvative Hussefelt triple crank set with 22/32/44 rings ?

I’m running factory 28/38/48T steel chain rings, 7 speed cassette and chain. The crank arms are clunky Suntour aluminum pieces. I really need something lighter and stronger.

it depends on the measurements of the components and frame.. the brand does not necesarily matter..

Do you guys believe that success in high school predicts success in life?

By success in high school I mean academic success (high grade point average and high test scores).

Do you guys think that students who get the highest grades in high school and graduate top of their class will eventually go on to become CEOs, Doctors, and Presidents tomorrow?

When I was in the 9th grade, my literature teacher passed around his report card for everyone to see. He was a straight A student in high school but yet at the end of it all, he was a literature teacher who ended up making less than average. The teacher was a good person but he lived in a broken down home and he drove a torn down sedan.

Moral of the story is that high school is just one step of life. Doing good in high school only gives you some opportunities early in life but going to Harvard won’t instantly make you into a CEO or a heart surgeon, you still need to work hard for those jobs. Going to Harvard will give you a better chance of becoming a CEO but you will need the drive and the work ethic to make your goals come true. High school does not measure or predict success in life because life is too complex for grades and SATs to determine who would make more money. Not to mention the disparity between high schools, one can be tough as nails while another easily gives its student grades.

Selling a used freezer; defrosting it for buyers?

I am thinking of turning on the freezer that came with my house when I bought it. I want to make sure it freezes up well because I’m planning on selling it. The only thing is that I’ve already cleaned it out, will I need to clean/defrost again if the freezer gets build up? Or is that good proof to the buyer that the freezer works? If not, what will they look at to make sure they’re getting a working machine?

If it is empty you will not get any build up letting it run, maybe a little on the coils but that will thaw quickly.

James Burke : Connections, Episode 7, “The Long Chain”, 5 of 5 (CC)

More Shows: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JamesBurkeWeb&view=playlists

Episode 7 of James Burke’s most well-known series “Connections” which explores the surprising and unexpected ways that our modern technological world came into existence. Each episode investigates the background of usually one particular modern invention and how it came into being. These explorations are an attempt to locate the “connections” between various historical figures who seemingly had nothing to do with each other in their own times, however once connected, these same figures combined to produce some of the most profound impacts on our modern day world; in a “1+1=3” type of way.

It is this type of investigation that is the core idea behind the Knowledge Web project, whereby sophisticated software is being developed to attempt to discover these subtle interconnections automatically. See http://k-web.org.
